NEWEST SCREENPLAY - XENO
A bitter, zealous scientist must unite with the monsters who murdered her family to prevent the end of the world. Horror feature,.
Most people prefer to pretend that monsters don’t exist. By day we’re bold - yet as evening draws in we hurry home, and when night descends, we are locked up in our modern-day fortresses, cowering under our UV lights. Because in the darkness we can no longer ignore what’s out there. Waiting.
Dr Gabriela Garciais is constantly aware that they exist. As a child she witnessed them eviscerate her parents and dedicated her career to vengeance. Then she watched again as her obsessive, hate-driven research resulted in the massacre of undergraduates. Guilt-ridden, she retreated from the age-old war.
But something has changed. Vampires are bolder, more aggressive, even attacking in broad daylight, and humanity’s survival is under threat. Gabbi is called back into the fight and reluctantly re-joins her old research team – to create an ‘anti-virus,’ to make their blood indigestible… to try and prevent vampires mesmerising humans. Neurologists, virologists, haematologists and… and their facility is attacked. The ferocity of the assault is unparalleled, their state-of-the-art defences and advanced weaponry completely useless, and their rescuers are… vampires.
Because Gabbi’s most bitter enemies are not the cause of this deadly war. A bigger, even more terrifying threat has arrived on earth, and vampires and humans alike are its prey. Aliens who can control sentient beings. Aliens who orchestrated human and vampire deaths while they built an indestructible army of golems from our metals and rocks, intent on our utter annihilation.
Humans and vampires must put aside centuries of animosity and contempt. Gabbi must overcome her crippling guilt and park her rabid hatred to work with the monsters who killed her family. We must collaborate in a race to locate the lair of the aliens, and together find a weakness in the seemingly invincible foe.
Win or lose, earth will never be the same again.
The colossal city of Pangea is not Eden – but it’s pretty damn close. Countries have migrated under the protective embrace of a huge dome, zoned into City States. Towering blocks, clad in vertical gardens, prop up the vast dome which harvests solar power… and protects against acid rain. Virtual Reality hides the unappealing, and cleverly disguises the condensed area humanity occupies after the environmental disasters of the 21st Century.
Violent crime is minimal… until a serial killer strikes.
In Baghdad, beautiful architecture, pioneering universities, scholars and teachers of every creed, language – and gender. Eight hundred years ago, the last days of the Golden Age of Islam. In Europe, the Dark Ages. Misogyny, filth, disease and corruption. A jaded Christian Knight and a fugitive, female, Muslim Doctor arrive in Norwich, and unite as legal Crusaders at the dawn of the criminal justice system.
By the mid-21st C, the planet is in freefall. Overpopulation, deforestation, climate change and corporate greed, countries shrunk to xenophobic, warrior states. But why fix earth when habitable planets exist? The race to the stars is on, with stragglers on a blasted planet ‘supposedly’ desperate for their ticket to freedom…

A passionate writer with a particular love of crime, history, sci-fi and outright fantasy. My driving force, my overriding theme, is injustice and inequality; historic, contemporary or predicted. I am compelled to put the underdog and outsider through the wringer, but, as an eternal optimist, I relish empowering their ultimate triumphs over adversity!
I believe art ‘should’ shine a spotlight on society and I am happiest writing stories and characters that challenge perceptions.
Writing since around 2003, the last 4 few splitting work and writing equally (as money allows!), I work closely with Script Editor, Hayley McKenzie, on all my projects – as an editor and occasional ‘sanity checker’ if things get too whacky. I also co-write with Delphine Bergsma (see below).

A Londoner in my bones, but a lover of travel, I spent a decade out of Blighty (in Australia, the US, Central America & Europe); my trips are shorter now but equally ‘needed’ in my quest for knowledge and thirst to people and culture watch.
